Waste heat systems

 

With the use of primary energy for heat generation in chemical and/or steelworks-technical processes, up to 65% of the supplied heat go out as waste gas loss in an unused way.

For technological reasons, thermal processes permit seldom a 100%th heat return. The heat not more led back to the origin process is than called waste heat.

To utilise this waste, the heat must be transferred in many cases to a different heat carrier. This is necessary because often the medium from the origin process is contaminated or not suitable for a transmission of heat over longer routes. Carrier media can be:

1. Air - short ways, high temperatures, without pressure

2. Water - high caloric capacity, low temperatures, long routes of transport, up to 95 °C without pressure

3. Thermal oil - high temperatures according to the suitability of the heat carrier, long routes of transport,
    without pressure

4. Steam - high caloric capacity, temperatures according to the pressure stage, as saturated steam long
    transport routes
